Continuing on from where we left off last week I wanted to look a
bit deeper at how it is that we created what we have created in the
course of the year just gone. With this distinction we can chose to
ensure that the upcoming year doesn’t see the same pattern.

If you are like most people there are areas in your life where you
are not where you thought you would be by now, either in this
year, decade or even lifetime.

You may have dropped the ball when some circumstances
occurred, be they massive or even tiny. It may have been
something good. It seems strange that things being easy can
cause you to lose the plot but often it is the case where things get
too easy we stop doing the things that got us to what we have
achieved in the first place. It could be said that the greatest enemy
of success is success. We stop attending to the basics when
everything is going well and gradually things fall apart.

It may have been a bad experience or circumstances that shook
you off course from then on or maybe just made you a little
‘wobbly’ temporarily.

Without placing judgement on your actions it may have been that
you got in with ‘un-useful company’ (you are the product of the 5
people you hang out with most). Maybe you got lazy and stopped
doing the things that you used to do that got you the results you
may have got in the past. Maybe you watched the wrong ‘news’,
read the wrong blogs, believed the wrong twitters or Facebook
feeds. Your mental ‘diet’ is just as critical for good health as your
physical diet.

Maybe, during the year you consciously or unconsciously polluted
yourself with thoughts and ideas that we un-useful for the
outcomes you want to get. Maybe you let yourself be distracted by
‘bright shiny objects’ therefore occupying your time with low priority
activities leaving little time for the high priority actions.

Whatever the means it is highly likely that during 2015 you wasted
time and energy and yes, your life immersing yourself in those
activities that took you away from your higher purpose resulting in
less being conceived, created and completed than is possible.

This week reflect on your past year and identify the actions,
decisions or circumstances that were triggers for you to have less
than you could have now.

We will continue this discussion next week as we count down to
the New Year.
