The High Way OR The Low Way? Creating the Ideal Chiropractic Team

Chiropractic Team

Whilst there are some examples of one-man/woman practices around, for most chiropractors the businesses of chiropractic is more than just the chiropractor having their hands on practice members and running the whole show.

For a practice to function as thriving business there is a need for people to get together with a common purpose and play full-on in their own unique style with and for each other.

Different people playing alongside each other can be a source of frustration. For many chiropractors the thinking about chiropractic team goes something like, “its better to have others in the practice who you know (even if they are not that wonderful) than to go through the pain of finding and training the ideal team player”.

While this attitude can be the easiest approach it leads to the low level teams and with them comes the cost of lower productivity, service and even clinical results.

It could be said that low-level chiropractic teams are in survival while other teams that vibrate at a higher level are in thrival and there is a huge difference in the end results.

Do You Have a Low Level Chiropractic Team?

The culture that you create for your chiropractic team determines the function of the team. Consider the following questions?

  • Do you have a culture where all contributions to the team are equally valued and equally rewarded?
  • Do you treat all suggestions as good?
  • Do you accept all ideas as sound?
  • Is everyone on your team equal?
  • Do you consider that all effort is valuable?
  • Do you require a team where everyone sacrifices themselves for the good of the team?

If you answered, “YES” to any of the above you may have a low level team.

Do You Have a High Level Chiropractic Team?

Let’s ask some more questions then.

  • Do you treat all your team members with equal respect but have different expectations for each one?
  • Do you celebrate the difference and individuality of your team members?
  • Do you accept that some team members will contribute more than others and in certain ways?
  • Do you get that some will play harder than others?
  • Are you happy that each of your team members come up with great ideas and some do it more than others?
  • Do you require a team where everyone has a “life” for themselves and that your practice team is a place where they can let loose and play full-on for the time they are there?

If you answered, “YES” to any of the above you may be on the road to a high level team.

The high level team is a collection of unique individuals expressing their own true self in concert with the specific purpose of the business. Nobody (including you) is indispensable. All businesses (including yours) are built to sell and built to last beyond your mortal self.
